Management Accountant – 12 Month Contract

About the role

This 12‑month Management Accountant position sits within a well‑established law firm’s Finance team in London. The role is hands‑on and offers broad exposure to monthly reporting, tax compliance, budgeting and other financial operations while working closely with Finance and People teams.

Key responsibilities

• Produce monthly KPI reports and highlight trends requiring attention.
• Prepare monthly financial and operational reports for Practice Area Leaders.
• Create detailed monthly support notes for business services expenditure.
• Complete monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations (accruals, pre‑payments, fixed assets, control accounts).
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns and reconcile against general‑ledger balances.
• Submit mandatory ONS data accurately and on time.
• Prepare bi‑annual payment practice disclosures.
• Liaise with People & Culture on payroll and benefits, posting monthly payroll journals.
• Support annual budgeting and re‑forecasting processes.
• Assist with monthly management accounts preparation.
• Respond to ad‑hoc reporting and business analysis requests.

Required profile

• Experience in a management accounting or similar finance role, preferably within professional services.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships.
• Proactive, analytical and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
