Management Accountant (8‑week contract)

About the role

Our client in Gloucester is seeking a Management Accountant for an eight‑week contract. The position is primarily remote, with two days on‑site during the first week, and offers an hourly rate of £31.53 (equivalent to £43,200 per annum). The role starts as soon as possible and is ideal for candidates with recent finance experience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and mentor the Finance Officer.
• Work with the Financial Reporting Manager to produce monthly management accounts.
• Plan, coordinate and deliver budgets alongside the Financial Reporting Manager.
• Support budget holders to ensure sufficient funding for team objectives.
• Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate annual accounts with supporting documentation.
• Reconcile accounting records and control accounts monthly, correcting discrepancies promptly.
• Develop new reports to improve accuracy, timeliness and quality of financial information.

Required profile

• Recent experience in a finance or accounting role.
• Ability to manage and develop junior finance staff.
• Familiarity with social housing regulation or similar regulated environments is advantageous.
• Professional accounting qualification (CIMA or ACCA) is desirable but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and financial modelling.
• Knowledge of social housing regulation (beneficial).
• Relevant accounting qualification (CIMA or ACCA) – desirable.
