Management Accountant – Finance Team

About the role

We are seeking a Management Accountant to join our finance team in North Essex. This full‑time position offers the chance to influence senior decisions, improve financial operations and drive real impact across a growing Trust.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality financial advice to the Chief Financial Officer and support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Develop and improve financial systems, processes and policies, ensuring strong internal controls and accurate reporting.
• Oversee VAT partial exemption calculations, tax compliance and maintain the Fixed Asset Register.
• Support audit readiness and ensure compliance with the Academy Trust Handbook and Charity Commission guidelines.
• Collaborate with academies and governing bodies on financial decision‑making, monitor capital funding and manage treasury activities.
• Assist procurement processes to ensure adherence to financial regulations.

Required profile

• Fully CIMA or ACCA qualified.
• Proven experience as a Management Accountant in a complex environment.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Experience with finance systems such as PSF, HCSS and STAR (desirable).
