Management Accountant

About the role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will own the day‑to‑day and monthly financial accounting activities for a fast‑growing manufacturing business. This hands‑on position is central to ensuring the integrity of the nominal ledger and supporting the company through an ambitious growth phase.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statements.
• Manage the month‑end close process to deliver timely and accurate reporting.
• Maintain the nominal ledger, journals, accruals, pre‑payments and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Handle VAT, payroll and HMRC submissions, ensuring ongoing compliance.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register and depreciation schedules.
• Assist with cash‑flow forecasting and treasury activities.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and statutory accounts preparation.
• Provide financial analysis to aid business decision‑making.
• Continuously improve financial controls, reporting processes and documentation.
• Play an active role in Sage 50 implementation and future ERP projects.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience producing monthly management accounts.
• Qualifications such as ACCA, ACA or CIMA are desirable but not essential.
• Previous manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Strong nominal‑ledger and month‑end accounting expertise.
• Excellent Excel skills and experience with accounting systems, preferably Sage 50.
• Strong communication ability to explain financial information to non‑finance colleagues.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented and able to meet deadlines.
