Management Accountant

About the role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Management Accountant to join a highly regarded and well‑established retail business based in Rayleigh, Essex. The role goes beyond month‑end accounting, working closely with senior management to provide financial insight that influences commercial decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Preparation of monthly management accounts, P&L and balance sheet reporting
• Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
• Cash‑flow and financial performance reporting
• Production of meaningful management information
• Analysis of trends, margins and business performance
• Supporting budgeting and business planning
• Working closely with operational and senior management
• Assisting with year‑end accounts and external auditors
• Helping to improve financial processes, controls and reporting

Required profile

• Solid management accounting experience with a commercial focus
• Qualified, part‑qualified or qualified by experience
• Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate the commercial story behind the numbers
• Practical experience in a fast‑moving commercial environment such as retail, FMCG or distribution (advantageous)
• Ability to work closely with senior management and operational teams
