Manager / Associate Director – Project Management (Biotech)

About the role

Relation is a TechBio company developing transformational medicines. The Manager/Associate Director – Project Management will partner with Programme and Project Leaders to drive the osteoporosis programme across the full discovery journey, from Target ID to Candidate Selection.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Programme and Project Leaders to define strategic objectives and delivery requirements.
• Orchestrate matrixed teams across wet‑lab, ML research, data science and engineering to meet project milestones.
• Manage plans, budgets, risks and issues, escalating to senior management when needed.
• Coordinate governance bodies (steering committees, working groups) and ensure decisions are documented and actioned.
• Maintain project documentation, decision logs and operational hygiene for a multi‑year effort.

Required profile

• Degree in life sciences, project management or related field; advanced degree or equivalent experience welcome.
• Significant programme/project management experience in biotech, pharma or comparable R&D settings, preferably early‑stage discovery programmes.
• Scientific literacy to engage with wet‑lab biology, single‑cell omics and machine learning discussions.
• Familiarity with stage‑gate or portfolio governance frameworks for early discovery.
• Experience overseeing third‑party work packages such as CROs or academic collaborators.

Required skills

• Fluency with modern project management tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana, Jira).
• Proficiency in creating Gantt charts and RAID logs.
• Strong organisational skills for managing complex, interdependent workstreams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for senior external audiences.
