Manager, Global SME Market Expansion

About the role

The SME Global Market Expansion team at Mastercard is a newly established unit focused on unlocking incremental SME payment flows in under‑penetrated geographies. As the Manager, you will define and execute strategies to shift small and medium‑sized businesses from cash, checks and wires to card‑based solutions, driving commercial outcomes such as Gross Dollar Volume, net revenue and pipeline growth.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the SME card conversion strategy across prioritized markets, targeting high‑potential segments and use cases.
• Own commercial targets (GDV, net revenue, qualified pipeline) and build robust business cases linking initiatives to measurable financial outcomes.
• Lead end‑to‑end growth initiatives from ideation, pilot testing, measurement to scaling across markets.
• Leverage data, research and customer insights to identify blockers, design actionable solutions and prioritize initiatives based on ROI.
• Collaborate with finance, marketing, regional and market teams, and develop strategic partnerships to accelerate adoption.

Required profile

• Experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, operations, sales or commercial roles within payments or financial services.
• Strong analytical and critical‑thinking abilities with a track record of delivering against financial targets.
• Demonstrated execution mindset – running pilots, defining KPIs and scaling successful initiatives.
• Excellent communication, storytelling and presentation skills, able to influence senior stakeholders.
• Ownership mentality, bias for action and ability to thrive in cross‑functional, global environments.
