Manual Lathe Machinist – Precision Engineering

About the role

Our client, a well‑established precision engineering and manufacturing business, is looking for an experienced Manual Lathe Machinist to join their production team in the South East. You will work in a busy workshop, turning plastics and metal components to exacting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate manual lathes to produce precision‑engineered parts.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and CAD models.
• Set up machines, adjust tooling and maintain accuracy.
• Carry out grinding, milling and assembly tasks as required.
• Perform quality inspections using calipers, micrometers and other measuring equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment in line with health and safety regulations.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating manual lathes in a machining or engineering setting.
• Strong understanding of machining processes and tooling.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Good numerical skills and attention to detail.
