Manufacturing Controller – Stores & Inventory Management

About the role

The Manufacturing Controller will manage stores and inventory within a defence manufacturing environment, ensuring that work packages are correctly loaded, monitored and delivered on schedule. This position is contract‑based and will support the production line by handling tooling, kitting and material flow.

Key responsibilities

• Issue, receive and control stock, including shelf‑life management.
• Load manufacturing cells with jobs according to lead and cycle times.
• Pack components using hand tools and manage tooling issuance.
• Update computer records and perform kitting activities.
• Load and unload lorries and coordinate goods in/out.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a stores or manufacturing control environment.
• Ability to follow instructions and work flexible shift patterns.
• Strong attention to detail and capability to work independently.
• Completed manual handling, lifting & slinging, and ESD training.

Required skills

• PC proficiency, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Forklift truck licence.
• Knowledge of Kanban and 2‑bin inventory systems.
• Experience with an Enterprise Planning System such as SAP.

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £25.38, increasing to £26.70 after 12 weeks.
• Overtime paid at time‑and‑a‑half for hours over 37 per week.
• Initial 12‑month contract with potential for long‑term engagement.
