Manufacturing Controller – Stores

About the role

Our client, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is looking for a Manufacturing Controller – Stores to join a high‑tech production facility in Stevenage. You will be responsible for controlling work packages, managing stock, and supporting line‑side operations to ensure smooth material flow and on‑time delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Apply manufacturing control processes and use ERP systems such as SAP.
• Issue, receive and maintain inventory in a structured stores environment.
• Monitor critical shelf‑life items and ensure compliance with store‑keeping standards.
• Load manufacturing cells with scheduled jobs, respecting lead times, cycle times and delivery targets.
• Support packing operations, manage tooling issue/return and perform kitting activities.
• Safely load and unload goods vehicles, complete documentation and maintain material flow.

Required profile

• Proven experience in manufacturing control and stores operations within a steady‑paced production environment.
• Flexible, reliable and able to follow detailed instructions across varying shift patterns.
• Strong attention to detail and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
• Trained in manual handling, Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) procedures and certified in lifting, slinging and overhead crane operation.

Required skills

• ERP proficiency – SAP.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel for inventory tracking and reporting.
• Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
• Lean manufacturing knowledge – Kanban, two‑bin stock replenishment.
• Manual handling and ESD handling certifications.
• Overhead crane operation and lifting/slinging certification.
