Manufacturing Engineer – Industrial Laundry

About the role

Elis is seeking a motivated Engineer to join its Kendal site, supporting industrial laundry equipment within a fast‑moving manufacturing environment. The role offers a permanent, full‑time position with a focus on safety, reliability and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out remedial engineering works on industrial laundry machinery as directed by the Engineering Manager.
• Repair equipment safely and promptly while keeping production teams updated on progress.
• Record planned preventative maintenance (PPM) data accurately in the CMMS system.
• Travel to off‑site training facilities or other group factories when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing or process environment.
• Engineering Level 3/4 NVQ qualification; apprenticeship or BTEC background preferred.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions quickly and communicate effectively at all levels.
• Willingness to travel for training and project work.

Required skills

• Pneumatics and hydraulics knowledge.
• Electrical circuit understanding and ability to read schematics.
• CMMS data entry and maintenance planning.
• MS Office proficiency.
• Logical fault‑finding and high attention to detail.
• BS 7671 (IET wiring regulations) and C&G 2391‑52 inspection/testing.
• Fabrication, welding and PTW risk assessment.
• Legionella control (ACOP L8) and IOSH Managing Safely.
• Experience with 6 Sigma, small‑medium projects and CAPEX.
