Manufacturing Technician II – Machine Operator/Setter

About the role

We are seeking a Manufacturing Technician II to join a leading global business in Basingstoke. The role involves setting up, operating and maintaining cutting, forming and machining equipment to produce high‑precision components on a rotating shift pattern.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate cutting, forming, grinding or CNC/manual machine tools.
• Select, install and align drills, cutters, dies and holding devices using hand tools and measuring instruments.
• Read technical blueprints and job orders, inspect workpieces with calipers, micrometers and gauges to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Perform routine machine care such as oiling, cleaning, coolant top‑ups and changing worn tools.
• Make minor mechanical or electrical adjustments and carry out basic maintenance.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years’ experience in machine setting, operation or mechanical production environments.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical engineering drawings.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools (verniers, micrometers, calipers).
• Willingness to work alternating weekly shifts (06:00‑14:00 / 14:00‑22:00).

What we offer

• £13.46 per hour plus 20 % shift allowance (£16.15 total) – equivalent to ~£33,500 per year.
• Rotating day shifts, Monday‑Friday, 40 hours per week.
