Manufacturing Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Assembly or Manufacturing Technician to join Advanced Electric Machines (AEM) in building next‑generation rare‑earth‑free electric motors. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will assemble magnet‑free motors for serial and pre‑serial production, supporting both production and prototype work.

Key responsibilities

• Build and test advanced electric motors and associated systems from engineering drawings and detailed documentation.
• Support prototype builds, design validation activities and product development programmes alongside engineering teams.
• Operate lifting equipment such as cranes and hoists safely.
• Follow health & safety protocols, 5S standards and standard operating procedures to maintain quality and safety.
• Inspect and test components throughout the process to ensure product conformance.
• Complete written and electronic documentation for traceability and record keeping.
• Meet output targets and contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Previous experience in manufacturing, engineering, automotive, aerospace, electrical or precision assembly environments.
• Proficiency with hand tools and assembly equipment and ability to follow SOPs and build documentation.
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English and basic computer literacy.

Required skills

• Use of hand tools and assembly equipment.
• Operation of lifting equipment (cranes & hoists).
• Computer data entry and basic IT skills.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
