Marine Professional Indemnity Underwriter

About the role

Join Pen’s Marine Professional Indemnity team in London and help shape the underwriting of complex marine liability risks. You will work alongside experienced underwriters, reporting to the Managing Director, to deliver tailored solutions for brokers and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, price and underwrite Marine Professional Indemnity risks in line with company guidelines and market conditions.
• Analyse technical documentation, loss records, surveys and financial information to support underwriting decisions.
• Structure policy terms, conditions and endorsements to match client needs and risk appetite.
• Maintain a renewable book of business, monitor profitability and align with strategic objectives.
• Track performance metrics, identify loss trends and propose corrective actions.
• Contribute to underwriting strategy, pricing models and product enhancements.
• Build and sustain relationships with brokers, clients, capacity providers and industry partners.
• Represent the company at market meetings, broker visits and industry events.

Required profile

• Experience as an Underwriter or Senior Underwriter in Marine Professional Indemnity.
• Strong analytical judgement and deep sector knowledge.
• Proven ability to manage a renewable book of business and drive profitability.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills with brokers and clients.
