Market Data Engineer

About the role

We are partnering with a leading proprietary trading firm that acts as a market maker on more than 70 global exchanges. As a Market Data Engineer you will own the reference-data layer that feeds every trading decision, delivering ultra-low-latency, high-quality data across multiple asset classes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain a reference-data platform covering financial instruments, corporate actions, market calendars and alternative data sets.
• Develop robust data ingestion pipelines in C++ and Python that handle complex upstream sources without compromising latency.
• Model and manage data structures to ensure consistency, accuracy and P&L impact awareness.
• Collaborate closely with trading, research and engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Monitor, optimise and troubleshoot data quality and performance in a production environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and building reference-data or security-master systems from the ground up.
• Background working within market-data teams at a proprietary trading firm, hedge fund, asset manager or top investment bank.
• Strong understanding of low-latency environments where data correctness directly affects profitability.
