Marketing and Engagement Officer

About the role

The Marketing and Engagement Officer will support South Swindon Parish Council in promoting its events and community projects. Working closely with the Events and Venues Manager, the role aims to reach existing and new audiences, especially harder‑to‑reach groups, and raise awareness of council activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement marketing and communications campaigns for council events and projects.
• Create engaging content for press releases, newsletters, leaflets and digital platforms.
• Build and maintain relationships with local media and community organisations.
• Monitor campaign performance and adjust strategies as needed.
• Manage and grow the council’s social‑media presence across multiple platforms.
• Plan, schedule and publish content, responding to public comments and queries.
• Update the council website and listings to ensure all activities are promoted.

Required profile

• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
• Ability to work alone for some duties.
• Access to a vehicle for duties that require travel.

• Two‑year fixed‑term contract.
• Salary range £29,064 – £31,022 per year.
• 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and 2 statutory days.
• Vehicle provision for work‑related travel.
