Materials Buyer – Construction Projects

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Materials Buyer to support a leading housebuilder’s projects across Oxfordshire. The successful candidate will ensure the right building materials are sourced, purchased and delivered on time to keep construction sites running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Research and identify cost‑effective building materials that meet project specifications.
• Negotiate with suppliers, place orders and manage delivery schedules to align with site requirements.
• Coordinate closely with Site Managers to adjust quantities and timings as project needs evolve.
• Maintain accurate purchase records, track budgets and monitor material usage against take‑offs.
• Resolve any supply issues promptly to minimise impact on construction timelines.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Buyer for a housebuilder or residential contractor.
• Familiarity with construction take‑offs, budgeting and project schedules.
• Strong understanding of building materials and supplier markets.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with site teams and suppliers.
