Materials Planner – 6‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract

About the role

As a Material Planner at Artifex Elmdon, you will play a critical role in ensuring materials are available to support uninterrupted production and successful customer delivery. Working closely with suppliers, production planning, scheduling, engineering and purchasing teams, you will analyse demand, manage supply requirements and maintain accurate planning data within the ERP system.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor material requirements against production schedules and customer demand, identify shortages and coordinate timely delivery with suppliers.
• Maintain accurate MRP schedules, review supplier schedules, manage purchase order changes and communicate demand fluctuations.
• Oversee supplier EDI and ASN compliance, resolve shipment and ASN issues, monitor supplier performance and escalate risks.
• Support engineering change implementation, manage inventory burn‑off plans and minimise supplier‑related costs.
• Maintain planning master data, participate in planning reviews and contribute to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in production planning, materials planning or manufacturing scheduling environment.
• Confidence working with ERP and MRP systems and supporting new product launches.
• Highly analytical, organised and able to make data‑driven decisions while being practical and hands‑on.
• Effective communication with stakeholders at all levels and ability to challenge, influence and hold others accountable.
• Good understanding of lean manufacturing principles, supplier management and OEM quality standards.
