Materials Planner

About the role

We are looking for a Materials Planner to join our Supply Chain team at the Rainham site. In this key position you will ensure that the right materials, components and services are available to support production and meet customer delivery expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and procure materials and services to maintain continuity of supply while meeting cost, quality and delivery targets.
• Manage inventory levels using ERP parameters such as lead times, safety stock, reorder points and supplier schedules.
• Raise, monitor and follow up purchase orders and supplier schedules to guarantee timely execution.
• Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues related to delivery, quality, pricing and invoicing, and maintain strong relationships.
• Communicate material availability, risks, shortages and recovery plans to internal stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate supply‑chain risks, and propose improvements to enhance service levels.
• Analyse and report on material planning, inventory and supplier performance data.
• Collaborate with Sourcing, Operations, Production and Finance on sourcing initiatives and continuous‑improvement projects.
• Drive inventory optimisation, reduce lead times and improve planning efficiency while ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in material planning within purchasing, procurement or supply chain.
• Background in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
