Maths and English Tutor (SEN) – Part‑time

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a qualified Maths and English tutor to deliver one‑to‑one GCSE lessons for a student with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in Reading. The role is temporary and part‑time, offering flexible hours between 5 and 25 per week.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver tailored GCSE Maths and English lessons that match the learner’s SEN profile.
• Adapt content, pacing and teaching methods to support emotional regulation and individual learning styles.
• Help the student develop subject knowledge, study skills and confidence for exams.
• Build a trusting, consistent rapport to create a safe learning environment.
• Monitor progress and provide clear, constructive feedback to parents, carers or professionals.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring Maths and English.
• Experience working with learners who have Autism, ADHD, SEMH or other SEN needs.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.

Required skills

• Ability to deliver GCSE‑level Maths and English instruction.
• Knowledge of strategies for supporting learners with SEN.
