Maths Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision School

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Maths Teaching Assistant to join an Alternative Provision school in Bromley-by-Bow, East London. You will work with pupils aged 11‑18 who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them build confidence and improve their numeracy.

Key responsibilities

• Support Maths lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Deliver targeted one‑to‑one and small‑group intervention sessions.
• Encourage participation and confidence in mathematics.
• Assist pupils with SEMH needs throughout lessons.
• Implement behaviour support strategies as directed.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting students with SEMH.
• Good understanding of GCSE‑level Maths.
• Experience in Alternative Provision, PRU, SEN or secondary education is desirable.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Passion for helping young people achieve academically.
