Maths Tutor

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Maths Tutor to deliver engaging mathematics lessons to learners across Primary, Secondary and Further Education settings in East London. The role involves tailoring instruction to individual needs, building confidence and helping students achieve their academic targets.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high‑quality maths lessons for pupils ranging from primary numeracy to GCSE and Functional Skills.
• Adapt teaching methods to suit online platforms, local libraries, council venues and residential settings.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with the Prospero Teaching team to ensure consistent safeguarding and compliance standards.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher status (QTS, QTLS) or PGCE, or a Mathematics degree with equivalent qualification.
• Minimum six months experience teaching or tutoring maths in a UK educational environment.
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Two professional references covering the last two years.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of the UK maths curriculum from primary through FE level.
• Ability to deliver GCSE and Functional Skills maths content.
• Experience supporting learners with additional needs (advantageous).
