MCERTS Flow Coordinator – Environmental Monitoring

About the role

Southern Water is seeking an MCERTS Flow Coordinator to join its Environmental Monitoring & Reporting team. You will help ensure compliance with the Environment Agency’s MCERTS scheme by verifying flow data, coordinating inspections and supporting continuous improvement of monitoring processes.

Key responsibilities

• Verify and report flow and Event Duration Monitoring (EDM) data to the Environment Agency.
• Assist with MCERTS certification, liaising with operational teams and external inspectors.
• Provide technical advice on flow measurement, event duration monitors and wastewater processes.
• Support delivery of flow monitoring schemes under the Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP).
• Maintain and enhance the MCERTS management system and related quality‑assurance processes.

Required profile

• A degree in science, engineering, environmental studies or equivalent experience.
• Experience in the utilities sector, preferably water or wastewater.
• Knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations and permits.
• Strong analytical ability and experience handling large data sets.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Excel or similar data‑analysis tools.

What we offer

• Hybrid working with flexibility across Kent, Hampshire and Sussex.
• Fixed‑term contract until July 2027 (37 hours per week).
• Salary up to £40,000 per year, dependent on skills and experience.
