M&E Commercial Lead – Newcastle (Hybrid Flexibility)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Commercial Lead to head the commercial function for major projects in the North East. The role will oversee the full commercial lifecycle from pre‑construction to final account, driving profitability and supporting the growth of our regional business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial management of M&E projects from inception to final account.
• Develop and implement commercial strategy across multiple projects.
• Oversee procurement of subcontractors and major supply‑chain packages.
• Manage project budgets, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Administer contracts under NEC, JCT or bespoke forms.
• Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities.
• Mentor and develop Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff.
• Provide commercial input to tendering and pre‑construction activities.
• Act as senior commercial interface with clients, consultants and supply‑chain partners.
• Drive continuous improvement of commercial processes and governance.

Required profile

• Significant senior commercial experience within M&E or building services.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical installations and project lifecycles.
• Proven track record delivering high‑value construction projects.
• Excellent knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
• Leadership experience managing commercial teams.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive performance.
