M&E Design Team Leader – Liverpool

About the role

The position is for a Chartered Engineer who will lead the Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) design team for a major main contractor in Liverpool. You will work on new‑build, refurbishment and minor works projects, delivering coordinated multi‑disciplinary solutions while supporting a collaborative, trust‑focused culture.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head of Service in managing the Liverpool‑based M&E team and coordinating with electrical, mechanical and infrastructure leads.
• Lead delivery of high‑quality M&E designs, ensuring they meet programme, budget, quality and safety standards.
• Manage team performance, utilisation and development to align capability with workload.
• Oversee technical delivery including feasibility studies, multi‑stage designs, specifications and condition reports.
• Maintain engineering standards, QA procedures, document control and health & safety policies.
• Build strong client relationships across public and private sectors and contribute to business development activities.

Required profile

• Degree‑qualified in Mechanical Building Services or Electrical Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer and member of CIBSE or IET with senior engineering experience.
• Proven leadership of multi‑disciplinary teams and strong communication skills.
• Experience in both public and private sector projects.
• BPSS clearance required.
