Mechanical Assembly Technician – London Underground Project

About the role
We are seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician to join a large team delivering the new Piccadilly line underground stock for London. Working at Siemens Mobility’s state‑of‑the‑art facility in Goole, you will contribute to the build of the world‑famous London Underground trains.
Key responsibilities
- Mount and assemble mechanical components, sub‑assemblies and interior train parts.
- Perform preparation work including drilling, grinding, riveting and pipe fitting/bonding.
- Operate pneumatic, hydraulic and other fitting systems safely.
- Follow production instructions and use the correct tooling for each task.
- Carry out regular quality, sight and functionality tests.
- Document activities using paper or glass‑based systems.
Required profile
- Level 2 or 3 mechanical qualification, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
- Background in manufacturing, maintenance, overhaul or pipe‑fitting environments.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
- Self‑starter with strong organisational skills, able to work independently and as part of a team.

What we offer
- Full‑time, 40‑hour week on a rotating shift pattern (06:00‑14:30 or 14:30‑22:30).
- Hourly rate £18.86 PAYE, increasing after 12 weeks.
- Long‑term, ongoing contract with a leading infrastructure project.
