Mechanical Design Engineer – Contract

About the role

This is an outside IR35 contract position focused on the design of turbomachinery components. The role is based in Castle Donington with a hybrid/flexible working arrangement. You will join a small team delivering detailed engineering solutions for gas‑turbine blades and vanes.

Key responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D models and assemblies using Siemens NX.
• Generate accurate engineering drawings.
• Perform engineering calculations, including tolerance stack‑up analysis.
• Prepare comprehensive engineering design reports.
• Engage with suppliers and lead design‑for‑manufacturing activities.
• Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Proven experience designing gas‑turbine blades or vanes.
• Familiarity with BS8888 and/or ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Strong mechanical calculation abilities and GD&T knowledge.
• Experience with Teamcenter or similar PLM systems.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work independently in a small team.
