Mechanical Design Engineer (Derby)

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well‑established engineering business in Derby. You will work on high‑integrity mechanical systems for gas turbines, rotating equipment and other aerospace and power‑generation projects, delivering designs from concept through to manufacture.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed mechanical designs using Siemens NX.
• Create 3D models, manufacturing drawings and Bills of Materials for components and assemblies.
• Support projects through concept, design, testing and manufacturing phases.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers and customers to deliver engineering solutions.
• Participate in design reviews and perform engineering calculations.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards and customer specifications.

Required profile

• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical, Aerospace or related engineering discipline.
• Strong experience with Siemens NX or similar CAD tools.
• Background in gas turbines, rotating equipment, power generation or high‑integrity engineering environments.
• Good knowledge of manufacturing processes and engineering documentation.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to commute to Derby.
