Mechanical Design Engineer (Harlow)

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to take flagship product concepts from design through to production. Based in Harlow, you will work closely with design, supply chain and manufacturing teams on a connected hardware programme.

Key responsibilities

• Translate product concepts into production‑ready mechanical designs and engineering specifications.
• Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) decisions for housings, materials, tooling and manufacturing constraints.
• Own and maintain CAD models and drawings in Siemens NX to manufacturing standards.
• Collaborate with China‑based manufacturing partners to resolve build and quality issues.
• Support prototyping, validation and technical documentation across development stages.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, Product Design Engineer or Design Engineer.
• Proven track record of taking products from concept through tooling into manufacture.
• Strong DFM knowledge across injection moulding, plastics and other manufacturing processes.
• Experience integrating electronics mechanically, including PCB mounting, wiring and thermal considerations.
