Mechanical Design Engineer – Hybrid (Bristol)

About the role

We are seeking Mechanical Design Engineers to join a global engineering leader. The role is based in Bristol with hybrid working and involves delivering design solutions within a multidisciplinary team supporting product development.

Key responsibilities

• Verify that designs meet requirements and conform to relevant standards through calculation and testing.
• Design and develop sub‑assemblies, ensuring quality, cost targets and schedule commitments are met.
• Produce detailed documentation including 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs and test data, and maintain design data in a timely manner.

Required profile

• Mechanically‑focused engineering degree (or equivalent qualification with industry experience).
• Experience in product development and design for manufacture/assembly.
• Familiarity with a range of engineering materials and manufacturing techniques.
• Proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD tools.
• Understanding of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and system schematics.

Required skills

• CAD software – CATIA, AutoCAD, SolidWorks.
• 3D and 2D modelling.
• Design for Manufacture (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA).
• Engineering material selection.
• Manufacturing methods and techniques.
• P&IDs interpretation.
