Mechanical Design Engineer – Intermediate (Winchester)

About the role

We are looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to join our experienced engineering team in Winchester. You will work on a diverse portfolio of building services projects across education, commercial, retail, industrial and leisure sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Design detailed mechanical building services systems using CAD and BIM (Revit).
• Liaise with structural engineers, architects, surveyors and contractors throughout project delivery.
• Attend project group and technical meetings to ensure alignment.
• Ensure designs comply with current legislation, health and safety standards, and sustainability targets.
• Advise clients on energy use, carbon reduction and sustainability strategies.
• Produce site‑specific mechanical system specifications and oversee installation.
• Define maintenance and operational requirements for completed designs.
• Carry out condition surveys and produce technical reports with recommendations.

Required profile

• Accredited degree (or higher) in Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in a similar mechanical design role.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
• Strong communication skills and ability to convey technical information clearly.
• Proactive, organised, with strong attention to detail.
• Ambitious and eager to develop professionally.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software.
• Experience using BIM tools, particularly Revit.
• Familiarity with IES and Hevacomp.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD.
