Mechanical Design Engineer – Lancashire

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established engineering business in Lancashire. The role involves taking bespoke projects from concept through to manufacturing and installation, working closely with project, manufacturing and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings.
• Design mechanical systems, components and equipment to meet project specifications.
• Generate Bills of Materials and associated technical documentation.
• Perform engineering calculations, design reviews and support testing, assembly and installation.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, suppliers and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, quality and health & safety regulations.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, continuous improvement and better manufacturability.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor or Creo.
• Experience producing detailed engineering and manufacturing drawings.
• Good understanding of fabrication, machining and manufacturing processes.
