Mechanical & Electrical Engineer – Data Centre (Portsmouth)

About the role

Join a leading data‑centre infrastructure provider as a Mechanical & Electrical Engineer. You will work on‑site in Portsmouth, rotating 12‑hour shifts, to ensure the reliability, safety and efficiency of critical M&E systems. The role blends hands‑on maintenance with IT support and contractor coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain and optimise site M&E infrastructure and environmental systems.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and rapid first‑fix repairs.
• Act as the Low Voltage (LV) Authorised Person, planning and executing electrical works safely.
• Supervise third‑party vendors and engineers on larger infrastructure projects.
• Provide “Smart Hands” support for remote IT teams – hardware installs, cable management, reboots and connectivity checks.
• Manage the ticketing system, capture asset data and contribute to audit reports.

Required profile

• Proactive, solution‑oriented maintenance engineer with experience in critical or industrial environments.
• Completed electrical apprenticeship or equivalent, preferably with knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Strong safety focus and ability to work autonomously on rotating shift patterns.
