Mechanical Engineer – Building Services

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects for a leading property and engineering consultancy in Leeds. The role combines design, project management and client liaison, offering hybrid working and strong professional development opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and manage mechanical building services projects from concept through to completion.
• Produce drawings, specifications, tender documentation and budget estimates.
• Manage contracts to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Promote renewable and energy‑efficient technologies.
• Carry out site surveys, condition reports and asset inspections as required.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Monitor project performance and maintain high technical and quality standards.
• Support continuous improvement and mentor junior team members where appropriate.

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Membership of CIBSE or working towards Chartered status.
• Previous experience managing mechanical building services projects.
• Strong understanding of building services design and contract administration.
• Experience delivering refurbishment and alteration projects.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and industry‑standard engineering practices.
• Full UK driving licence.
