Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Winthrop Technologies is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its project team in Blyth, United Kingdom. You will support the delivery of mechanical works on large‑scale data centre projects, ensuring safety, programme adherence, and compliance with specifications and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver mechanical works throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review and interpret drawings, specifications and technical submittals.
• Implement site QA/QC processes and verify works meet required standards.
• Collaborate daily with subcontractors, supervisors and the wider project team.
• Monitor site progress and report programme status to senior engineers and management.
• Maintain up‑to‑date mechanical documentation, including technical and safety records.
• Participate in site, engineering and planning meetings.
• Assist with installation checks, inspections and verification of mechanical systems on site.
• Support commercial management by tracking variations and progress claims.
• Identify and help resolve technical, design and coordination issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical construction, preferably on HVAC, piping or related services.
• Experience with data centre, industrial or mission‑critical projects is advantageous.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities.
