Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our busy workshop in Barking, Essex. The role focuses on maintaining and repairing industrial motor systems, gearboxes, pumps and air handling units within a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and overhaul industrial electric motors and associated gearboxes.
• Fit, commission and service pumps and air handling units.
• Operate lathe machines for part fabrication and modification (training provided if required).
• Collaborate with the workshop team to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in a manufacturing or engineering setting.
• Proven ability to work with mechanical equipment and tools.
• Willingness to develop lathe‑turning skills if not already proficient.
• Commitment to health and safety standards.

What we offer

• Competitive salary £36,000‑£40,000 per annum, with overtime potential up to £80,000.
