Mechanical Engineer – Overhaul & Maintenance (South London/Surrey)

About the role

We are recruiting a Mechanical Engineer for a well‑established engineering and manufacturing business operating in the transport and industrial sectors, based in Croydon and serving the South London/Surrey area.

Key responsibilities

• Providing practical engineering support across production, projects, quality, and operations.
• Conducting condition assessments, fault diagnosis, root cause investigations, and warranty reviews.
• Producing technical reports, method statements, test procedures, and overhaul instructions.
• Managing engineering changes, concessions, and technical documentation.
• Supporting overhaul and refurbishment projects from planning through to completion.
• Working closely with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practice.

Required profile

• HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years’ engineering experience in manufacturing, maintenance, overhaul or related sectors such as transport, power generation, oil & gas, marine or rail.
• Strong hands‑on engineering and problem‑solving capability.
• Experience producing technical documentation and reports.
• Knowledge of quality systems and engineering standards.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Proactive, adaptable and customer‑focused attitude.
