Mechanical Engineer & Programme Manager – Medical Devices

About the role

Newton Colmore Consulting Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with Programme Management experience to lead multiple electro‑mechanical medical device projects in Cambridge. You will mentor junior staff, drive mechanical design work, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate several medical‑device development programmes from concept to delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Perform hands‑on mechanical and electro‑mechanical design for implantable, wearable, or other life‑saving devices.
• Maintain continuous communication with internal teams and external partners.
• Ensure projects meet EN60601 and ISO 13485 requirements.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; advanced degree advantageous but not required.
• Proven experience developing electro‑mechanical medical devices in an industry setting.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects and mentor junior staff.
• Strong communication skills for virtual and face‑to‑face updates.
