Mechanical Engineer – Robotics Design (Biotech Startup)

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong robotics and mechatronics experience to join a fast‑growing biotech start‑up in London. You will work within the systems development team, turning innovative concepts into robust, manufacturable mechanisms that support a novel biotechnology product.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems and robotic mechanisms from concept through testing.
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to integrate detection technology with robotics.
• Prepare designs for batch and scaled manufacturing, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
• Support certification activities, including ISO 13485 documentation.
• Validate prototypes and iterate designs based on test results.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing life‑science instruments or medical devices that incorporate mechatronics and robotics.
• Familiarity with certification processes and manufacturing scale‑up.
• Comfort working in a start‑up environment and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
