Mechanical Engineering Placement – Calibration & Maintenance (12.5 months)

About the role

During the placement you will learn about the Calibration department with a strong focus on maintenance within Airbus. The role places you at the centre of the drilling team, supported by dedicated engineers, and provides exposure to all Airbus variants on the Broughton site.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out safety activities such as risk assessments, PUWER and LOLER compliance, and safety audits.
• Collaborate with the Quality team on process confirmations, asset care plans and root‑cause analysis.
• Support team engagement initiatives, employee involvement schemes and sustainability projects.
• Represent the Calibration business at drumbeat reviews and act as a focal point for customers.
• Assist the management team in enabling production and modernising the maintenance department, including workshop and spares management improvements.

Required profile

• Studying towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Computer Science awareness, including website development and Google suite proficiency.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Willingness to learn, work autonomously and contribute innovative ideas.
• Interest in maintenance and reliability of assets.
