Mechanical Estimator – £55k‑£75k, Scotland

About the role

The Mechanical Estimator will join a leading M&E contractor’s pre‑construction team, delivering tenders and cost plans for a diverse portfolio of projects across Scotland. Working closely with clients, consultants and internal teams, you will produce accurate, commercially competitive mechanical estimates from enquiry to tender submission.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed mechanical estimates and tender submissions.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Carry out take‑offs and develop accurate cost plans.
• Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Identify value‑engineering opportunities and assess project risks.
• Attend tender review and client meetings and support handover to operational teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the Building Services sector.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, heating, ventilation, air‑conditioning, pipework and public health systems.
• Experience preparing tenders for commercial, healthcare, education, industrial or public‑sector projects.
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Recognised Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or related qualification.
