Mechanical Fitter – 7 on 7 off shift

About the role

Airbus Helicopters UK is seeking an Aircraft Mechanical Fitter to join the MFTS operation at RAF Shawbury. The role works a 7‑on‑7‑off shift pattern, supporting daily helicopter flying programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Certifying Engineers in delivering serviceable aircraft for the daily flying schedule.
• Carry out maintenance on airframe structure, power‑plant, mechanical and electrical systems under supervision.
• Ensure all work complies with UK CAA regulations and Airbus procedures.
• Support hangar operations, including aircraft movement and housekeeping.
• Complete maintenance tasks to a high standard to maintain aircraft safety.
• Participate in the Fitter‑to‑LAE development pathway where applicable.

Required profile

• Experience in an aviation engineering environment.
• Good knowledge of UK CAA regulations and engine/airframe systems.
• Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
• Flexibility to meet customer and company requirements.

Required skills

• Aircraft mechanical fitting techniques.
• Engine and airframe systems knowledge.
• Understanding of UK CAA regulatory requirements.
• Maintenance of mechanical, electrical and power‑plant systems.
• Level 3 vocational qualification in Aircraft Engineering or related discipline.
