Mechanical Fitter – Field Service Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Fitter to join a leading German manufacturer of mechanical equipment. You will work across the Sunderland area and travel UK‑wide, providing installation, maintenance and repair services for a wide range of advanced machinery.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical servicing, routine maintenance and breakdown repairs on plant, cranes, forklifts and other heavy equipment.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide on‑site technical support.
• Undertake hands‑on training with new equipment and share knowledge with the field service team.
• Travel to customer sites across the UK as required.

Required profile

• Proven mechanical background, preferably with experience in hydraulics, motors and gearboxes.
• Experience maintaining plant, cranes, forklifts or similar heavy‑plant equipment (ex‑forces or REME experience is a plus).
• Ability to commute to Sunderland and travel nationally.
• Strong problem‑solving attitude and willingness to work flexible hours.
