Mechanical Fitter – Full‑time, Gloucester

About the role

We are recruiting a Mechanical Fitter for a well‑established engineering organisation in Gloucester. The role is days‑based, 37 hours per week over a 10‑day fortnight, offering a stable, long‑term position with opportunities for skill development and career progression.

Key responsibilities

• Fit and assemble machine parts accurately to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Fit sub‑assembly components using hand and power tools.
• Use engineering measuring equipment to verify dimensions.
• Drill and tap components as required.
• Fit pneumatic and water circuits with copper or plastic pipework.
• Prepare machines and tooling for painting and dispatch.
• Install machines at customer sites, including occasional overseas travel.
• Maintain safe systems of work and report issues promptly.
• Store tools and equipment safely and report non‑conforming parts.

Required profile

• Mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent technical training.
• Proven ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with pneumatic drawings is advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Willingness to travel abroad when required.
