Mechanical Fitter – Lead Field Engineer

About the role

Join a well‑established engineering business operating in the utilities sector as a Mechanical Fitter leading a small field team. You will be responsible for delivering installation, maintenance and repair work on wastewater treatment facilities across multiple sites in the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a two‑person field team on‑site, taking ownership of jobs from start to finish.
• Carry out installation, maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment equipment.
• Work closely with an experienced engineer to ensure high standards and efficiency.
• Operate across several sites, with occasional extended periods away from base.

Required profile

• 10+ years’ experience as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar hands‑on mechanical role.
• Strong mechanical background with proven fault‑finding and problem‑solving abilities.
• Experience working at height, in confined spaces and with lifting/cranage operations.
• Comfortable working in wastewater and utilities environments.
• Relevant engineering qualification (apprenticeship, NVQ or equivalent) is desirable.
