Mechanical Inspector (CMM & Manual) – Permanent

About the role

An excellent opportunity to join an established subcontract precision engineering business, inspecting high‑precision, complex components using both CMM and manual methods in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect mechanical parts and assemblies against drawings and quality requirements.
• Carry out manual inspections using gauges, micrometres and other precision measuring equipment.
• Operate CMM equipment to confirm product conformity and program CMM routines (PC‑DMIS preferred).
• Complete and review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
• Liaise with Engineering and Production teams to resolve inspection findings and non‑conformances.

Required profile

• Methodical, detail‑focused approach with confidence interpreting engineering drawings (GD&T beneficial).
• Senior level – proven inspection background including FAIRs, manual inspection and CMM programming.
• Junior level – solid inspection foundation (e.g., machining apprenticeship) and willingness to learn.

Required skills

• CMM operation and programming (PC‑DMIS).
• Manual measurement tools such as gauges and micrometres.
• First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) preparation.
• Understanding of GD&T principles.
