Mechanical Inspector – Product Certification

About the role

Our client, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to join their certification team at the Bolton site. You will be responsible for authorising products in line with the established product certification procedure, ensuring high standards of quality and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Certify products according to the product certification procedure and monitor operators responsible for certification.
• Inspect assemblies for proper construction, finish, painting, and surface condition.
• Detect physical damage and conduct intermediate inspections unrelated to certification.
• Complete manufacturing data pack paperwork, maintain defect reports and data records.
• Segregate defective items from good products and generate inspection, quality control, and audit documentation.
• Utilise specialised inspection tools and adhere to manufacturing procedures and inspection timelines.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing apprenticeship (Advanced Level or L3 Standard) or equivalent Level 3 academic and vocational qualifications (ONC, diploma, NVQ).
• Several years of experience inspecting work for sign‑off.
• Proactive problem‑solver with a strong team orientation.
• British citizenship or dual UK nationality.

Required skills

• IPC 610 certification or training (preferred).
• Electrical/Mechanical engineering knowledge.
• Manufacturing inspection techniques.
• Use of specialised inspection tools.
