Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Commercial Heating (£55k)

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a dedicated team supporting heating plant rooms across several hospitals in West London. The role focuses on service, repair and upgrades of low‑temperature hot water, medium‑temperature hot water and steam heating systems in a commercial healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform monthly Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and reactive visits on plant equipment.
• Inspect, descale and service calorifiers and plate heat exchangers.
• Upgrade system components such as gauges, safety valves, pumps, motorised valves, modulators and slam‑shut devices.
• Carry out re‑piping works during breakdowns or project upgrades.
• Respond quickly to heating emergencies and system failures.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate findings to supervisors.
• Collaborate with hospital staff during upgrades and work across multiple sites in a single day.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a heating engineer, preferably in healthcare or commercial settings.
• Experience working in plant rooms and with a variety of heating and hot‑water systems.
• Relevant certifications such as NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent.
• Strong problem‑solving ability, attention to detail and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
