Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

About the role
We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a leading UK manufacturer of timber processing and engineered wood products. The role involves both planned and reactive maintenance within a modern production environment, ensuring equipment reliability and maximising plant performance.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical faults, perform repairs and execute overhauls to minimise downtime.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing plant reliability and production efficiency.
- Work on a rotating Monday‑to‑Friday shift pattern (6:00‑14:00 and 14:00‑23:00).
Required profile
- Qualified Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter or similar mechanical engineering background.
- Experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, processing or agricultural environments.
- Strong mechanical fault‑finding ability with a proactive maintenance approach.
