Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

About the role

Acorn by Synergie is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a respected manufacturing business in Middlesbrough. You will work closely with the Group Maintenance Manager and Site Maintenance Supervisor to keep the plant’s mechanical equipment running safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to mechanical breakdowns and carry out fault‑finding activities.
• Install, maintain and repair a wide range of mechanical plant and equipment.
• Record all maintenance work in the site’s Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Support minor engineering projects across the site.
• Adhere to health, safety and industry regulations at all times.
• Assist with general site maintenance tasks as required.

Required profile

• Completed mechanical apprenticeship.
• Level 3 qualification (BTEC, ONC or equivalent) in a mechanical discipline.
• Experience maintaining industrial mechanical equipment in a manufacturing, chemical or process environment.
• Proactive attitude with a willingness to support broader site maintenance activities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of centrifugal, vane and air‑operated diaphragm pumps.
• Experience with industrial valves, especially ball valves.
• Familiarity with pneumatic systems.
• Use of a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
